The France star moved to Camp Nou in a £96.8m move in 2017 – but a string of injuries means he could be available to Premier League clubs for far less than that fee.
Manchester United and Arsenal are both considering moves for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele this summer, according to a report from Spain.
The French World Cup winner was backed to become one of the best players in Europe after joining the Spanish giants from Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of £96.8m in 2017.
However, a series of muscle injuries have limited 22-year-old Dembele’s impact at Camp Nou and Barcelona are understood to be willing to sell the winger.
And the Red Devils and the Gunners are both monitoring the situation but will examine the causes of Dembele’s injury woes before making their interest formal, according to Spanish newspaper Diario Sport.
Both Premier League clubs are enticed by Barcelona’s asking price, which could be as low as £43m as Quique Setien’s side aims to raise funds for a summer splurge.
Neymar is linked with a sensational return to the club, while Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is also heavily linked with a transfer to the La Liga giants.
As such, buying a player of Dembele’s quality at a cut-price may prove too good an opportunity to pass up for English clubs, despite his injury issues.
A loan deal is another option, while Dembele is also rumoured to have contacted France teammate and United star Anthony Martial to learn about life at Old Trafford.Arsenal and United are likely to target a right-winger this summer after struggling to fill the position this season
Dan James has scored just three league goals in 27 appearances for the Red Devils, while Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has had to use natural frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in wide roles due to a lack of options.
Dembele has made just nine appearances for the Catalan club this season, scoring once.
However, he showed what he is capable of in the 2018-19 campaign when he scored 14 goals and assisted nine times to help guide Barcelona to the league title – and he remains willing to fight for his spot in manager Setien’s team.
